Serving People In Need

Michael Gilmore's Fundraiser

Some words from Michael

On the 22nd of April, Help Them Home is giving us the opportunity to support non-profits and fundraise to end homeless in our community.

As you know, I've been a proud and loyal supporter of Serving People in Need for over 10 years because of my passion to help the homeless and help families before they become homeless. Too many times, I have met entire families living out of their cars and on the street.

SPIN client families leave feeling respected and are given all the resources to confidently become financially secure and safely housed because of generous people like you.

SPIN treats their donors - not as transactions, but as partners in something meaningful, with genuine kindness and gratitude. When supporting SPIN, we physically see your gifts successfully impacting the unhoused community.

In fact, in 2025, SPIN housed 61 families. I ask you to join me in supporting SPIN on this Giving Day so together we can continue to help and house families - and possibly turn that 61 into something greater.

I prayerfully and humbly ask you to consider donating whatever you can (it all adds up) to this important cause. You CAN make a huge impact in the lives of those who we are giving a “hand up”, not “hand out” to.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Mike.

The Serving People In Need Story

For almost 40 years, Serving People in Need (SPIN) has continued the legacy of founder Sam Boyce's mission to help Orange County families in need. With over 80,000 families and individuals served since its inception in 1987, SPIN's outstanding case management and family navigation services have helped the organization maintain a 90% or better success rate of client families remaining sustainably housed.

With hundreds of unhoused families apparent in the county at any given time, and precarious and unreliable federal funding for housing programs, we need your help more than ever. In 2025, we successfully housed 61 families (208 parents and children), and guided over 2400 families and individuals to essential services with access to our network of supportive services, food, clothing, hygiene and household necessities. Our goal for 2026 is to increase that impact by 25% - a lofty endeavor, but one we feel confident in reaching with the assistance of over three million giving Orange County hearts like yours!
