HomeAid Orange County | Los Angeles

Peter Whittingham's Fundraiser

Some words from Peter
P

I’m proud to be a HomeAid OCLA supporter and leverage my leadership to help address housing insecurity and homelessness in Orange, Los Angeles, and Ventura Counties.

Since its founding in 1989, HomeAid has been a leading nonprofit in the housing and shelter development space, thanks to its unique model centered around in-kind donations of labor and materials from building industry and trade partners.

Sometimes HomeAid OCLA owns the building; other times, we serve as the bridge between a nonprofit operator and the builder who steps up to bring the project to life. This creates significant cost savings on each HomeAid-built housing project, allowing more funding to go directly towards the services the project provides to our neighbors experiencing homelessness.

HomeAid has a vision for the future - a world where accessible and affordable housing is available to every person. This is only possible with the financial support of generous and caring people in our community. People like you.

That’s why I hope you’ll join me in helping HomeAid raise $100,000 on Help Them Home Giving Day. Any donation you make has a BIG impact in providing a roof and four walls for every person in our community.

The HomeAid Orange County | Los Angeles Story

In 1989, leaders in the building industry of Southern California engaged in a revolutionary project: the renovation of an old farmhouse in Irvine into affordable housing for at-risk families. This one-off project opened the door to an innovative new idea: a charitable branch of the building industry that donates their expertise, labor, and materials towards construction to reduce the overall cost of the project. HomeAid's story of helping people facing housing insecurity began.

What makes HomeAid OCLA special is how our community comes together to make our work possible. Our Builder Captains and their partners generously donate materials, expertise, time and labor toward our projects. Sometimes HomeAid OCLA owns the building; other times, we serve as the bridge between a nonprofit operator and the builder who steps up to bring the project to life. Each project we build brings us one step closer to closing the housing insecurity gap.
